I am very excited to announce that on December 5, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 pm, The Pablove Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to positively improving the lives of children living with pediatric cancer through the art of photography, will be hosting its fifth annual Pablove Shutterbugs Gallery Show. This show will be hosted at the FLOOD Magazine Gallery, at 5810 W. 3rd Street in Los Angeles, and will be selling the photographs taken by the children in the program with all proceeds going to the foundation in pursuit of continuing on this program that has touched and creatively inspired so many lives.
Classes are free to families and children living with pediatric cancer so the foundation relies on the support of grants, corporate donations, and individual gifts. This gallery show is the perfect way to show support of both the foundation and the children within the program. At the end of the course, the children keep the cameras and camera kits they had been given in hopes of continuing the practices they had learned such as perspective, light and shadow, and story telling through the method of one-on-one instruction, group classes, and field trips.
I have been volunteering with Pablove Shutterbugs for nearly 5 years as a photography mentor and committee member; I find that each year I become more and more inspired by the children participating in the program. Since 2011, there have been over 900 students and over 300 volunteers working in this 8-week mentorship program and I am proud to be a part of this special community.
